Home sick today hi LJ! Feeling pretty weak, but at least I can post here! Later, I will toddle across the street to the polling place. If I can keep some food down. I hope I feel better in time for the Empty Bottle tonight? The statutes of Liberty will be the sound track of the election results..you should all go! if I am up to it, I will be dressed as Rosie the Riveter again.

Last night in Cesky Ja Cesky jena! Well I am not *really* a Czech woman, but i know how to say it..almost. Tonight, we have been out for a lovely dinner (in the area near the hotel julian on a street called (essentially) Victor Hugo Street.. and it is our last night in Prague/Czech Rep. We must leave the hotel EARLY for the airport tomorrow. We have had a wonderful time, though it has been marred somewhat by fella's stomach upsets.. those of you who spent NYE with us a couple of years ago may remember what affect tequila has on fella....well we have learned that Becharovka (a Czech liquor..tastes similar to Goldschlager, but more pleasant) produces the same effect. oh boy.
Poor fella endured nausea for 4 hours or so on the train back from Moravia to Prague..and though the ancient trains and matchingly ancient tracks (which means a LOT of screeching noise and many stops..even on the "express" train) seemed quaint and interesting on the way *TO* Moravia..they were NOT so charming on the way back. Our wonderful guides (fella's third cousin, his mother, and his English proficient girlfriend) said that the trains were terrible..now.. we somewhat agree. Though, I LOVED the old fashioned seating (with two seats facing each other in little private cabins/berths that have a sliding door and windows that open and luggage racks over your head, just like you see in old movies). However, the cars really are as old as the ones in the movies and have been in continuous use..therefore..not so pretty. Still...the weather has been beautiful (hotter than I expected..oh and by the way..Czech women are tall and pretty and are fans of short skirts..some are too thin though..really, I am not just saying that because I am not tall or thin ..;)
Oh speaking of trains, we played cards on the train to while away the time..and who knew?? Czech cards are different! We are bringing a pack home. There are a few significant differences. Essentially this is the rundown: 1.Aces are pictures of women bringing in the crops 2."queens" are actually the same picture as the jack ( a young man), but the position of the "suit" symbol determines whether they are jack or queen. 3.the suits are completely different pictures and 4.there are only 32 cards..there is nothing below a seven of any suit.
I insist that we have "card night" where we play cards with this pack and drink Becharovka (but none for fella) and Slivovice (local plum brandy-type liquor..clear though, like vodka) when we get back. Petra, the angel girlfriend who made communication possible, gave us a bottle of Slivovice (pronounced Sliv-o-vitzah) that her family had made from their homegrown plums. Apparently, this is how everybody does it here. They say the store-bought stuff is no good. hmm.
OK, must go to bed.
tomorrow, Yorkshire.
I am glad to be able to post in LJ again!
I miss you peoples!
Pictures when we get home.

Helllloooooo. We are in Prague! We arrived at 2pm(ish) local time, which is 7 hours later than Chi-time. So, that means it was 7am for us, and I (for one) did not sleep on the flight to Manchester. So, I am probably loopy. it is past 11pm local time now. Fanackapan has been up a LONG time.
Upon arrival, fella's 3rd(?) cousin and his g-friend met us at the airport armed with a sign that had our last name printed on it, and fella was wearing a shirt with his name on it..so introductions were fairly easy. They drove us to the hotel and then left us to our own devices (shower/change/lay down/walk down the street and get some dinner) until 7:30, when they came to pick us up and take us to the "musical fountain"... here copy and paste this, rich text not working: http://www.prague.net/blog/article/73/experience-the-illuminated-fountain-with-music-when-in-prague
Then we took the tram (cable cars are the main PT, it seems) back to the hotel and checked out the basement bar restaurant before bed. I just had a borscht (sp?..I'm tired)and some Moravian wine "Frankovka" ..I think it was "frankovka"
Earlier we had dinner on the road towards prague castle and a nice bistro-type place. Prague really sems to have a bit of a cafe culture. Beer is very cheap, and the weather was lovely (hot) today and people were drinking beer and playing cards at one of the outdoor sidewalk tables we passed. Noone trying to get *wasted* just playing cards and drinking Pilsner. It is nice. Though we seem to clearly be tourists. We don't even have to ask, and they bring us the "English" menu. So much for not being conspicuous!
OK enough for now.
The hotel has free internet and a nice little cubby to post from, so there may well be more updates. For serious youz should come and stay at the Hotel Julian when/if you come to Prague.
Probably more tomorrow...MAYBE more cohearant...maybe.

Because Amy busted me out.. THURSDAY.
This Thursday it is almost Friday, but isn't. This Thursday 78.9 percent of my flist will go home early/never came in today. This Thursday the above percentage is completely arbitrary and I will not stand by it if challenged. This Thursday you better have something better to do than be nitpicking my percentage estimates. This Thursday, due to an additional Lotus Notes bogus-ness, I have been thusfar unable to write one of my articles. This Thursday this shit ain't getting done. This Thursday I am blaming it on the train, cuz the bus is already there. This Thurday, the whole IT department is wearing identical shirts. This Thursday they would do better to write the flipping agent that will change my name in stuff and give me access. This Thursday there have been entirely too many references to my job. This Thursday I am enjoying a caramel macchiato. This Thursday my secret news source informed me that Starbucks is closing 600 stores This Thursday I will reveal that my secret news source is: anything I hear while I am sitting quietly in a bathroom stall, eavesdropping. This Thursday, I wish I were running home b/c it is great weather for it!

I don't wanna I don't wanna I don't wanna! That is how I felt when I got up this morning. Late night of chores last night. Long day of newsletter today that I have done mostly jack shit on..i.e. I need to write some articles. It isn't really hard..it is just that..well, see the title.
I want a freaking vacation. It blows that the two days I took off after the wedding were mostly food poisoning recovery, and fella had to go to work anyway b/c of a project so I was by myself. I cannot WAIT until the honeymoon. whooo. We are camping tomorrow night, um, at someone's house in Wisconsin. I am really not sure what it will entail, but the prospect of a 4 hour drive (and getting up early to try and "beat the traffic" ) does not sound hella fun to me at the moment. I hope that my attitude will improve once this "newsletter" business is off my mind.
I sound pretty complainy. Mostly, life is good, I am just tired.
here' s to you, Juan Valdez....

Oh and
Yesterday was my one month wedding milepost. I guess you can't call it an "anniversary" since the "anni" means year.. anyway, I made turkey and black bean chili, to eat with brown rice, which fella says is weird, b/c he always had chili with mashed potatoes, which I think is weird.

well actually "clothes". I think I need them. I hjave gift certificates that are probably fittin to expire, so today, I am going shopping. I do actually need that pair of work shoes (sandles) for summer that is almost a sneaker (comfortwise) but looks professional enough to wear to work and goes with everything. If you see that pair of shoes, please let me know.
I look kind of like hell today.

The pirates have sunk- Britannia rules the waves
So there is a building near the entrance to the highway on Augusta, that has been flying a pirate flag on the roof for as long as i can remember (OK, the building does look a little like a ship, I guess). I don't know what changes have taken place at the pirate residence, but this morning, i passed the building, and it was flying a brand spanking new union jack, and the pirate flag was gone. I can't say I'm sorry about that. I thought the pirate flag was a little lame.
